HUNG THINH LAND COMPANIONING WITH 2020 VNEXPRESS MARATHON QUY NHON

The 2nd VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon has many improvements in organization, safety for athletes and changes in routes with many interesting experiences.

Following the success of the 2019 VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon, this year's event is jointly held by VnExpress Newspaper and Binh Dinh Province People's Committee, and Hung Thinh Land is a companion unit. The event will start on July 26 with four distances, including 5km, 10km, half marathon (21km) and full marathon (42km). More details about the event are announced at a press conference that took place on the afternoon of June 24.

With the message 'Run with the Sea & Sun', the competition encourages the runners after a long time of 'hanging shoes' (not attending in competitions) due to Covid-19, inspires training, ad improves the health of the community.

With beautiful roads designed and advised by professional athletes, the competition also helps promote Quy Nhon land to the people of the country in the time of stimulating domestic tourism. Taking place on the occasion of students' summer holidays, the event is also an opportunity for families to have a holiday in combination with meaningful sports and tourism before the start of the new school year.

Mr. Ngo Manh Cuong - Vice-Head of VnExpress Marathon Organizer, representative of VnExpress Newspaper announced that after more than 6 months of launch, the number of athletes registering two challenging distances (half marathon and full marathon) accounted for over a half, reaching 57 %. In which, there are many familiar names in the runner community who used to participate in many major marathons of Vietnam and the world.

This VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon competition is also a festival of 128 runner groups. Some of them are Fleur De Lys with 120 registered members, Sunday Running Club, VietRunners and local runner groups such as BinhDinh Runners, Da Nang Runners, etc.

Along with the infrastructure changes in Quy Nhon, this year competition witnesses significant changes in the running route in order to bring a more enjoyable experience. The track will start from the Nguyen Tat Thanh Monument, which is wider than the starting point of last year, giving the runners unforgettable memories before running on Xuan Dieu coastal road.

Particularly at the distance of 42km, the athletes can see the Phuong Mai wind farm, before turning to complete the remaining half of the distance. The unspoiled scenery here promises to help runners take beautiful and memorable photos. The track is also designed for runners to see the down on Thi Nai Bridge.

The entire road surface in the construction phase of the last competition has been completed, helping athletes improve personal achievements. A challenge named Kun Kids Marathon with a length of 1.5km is also designed for children under 13.

The running track of the VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon will go through many beautiful places of the city.

Regarding awards, this year, the VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon has 50 main prizes, with a total value of nearly one billion. Specifically, the two Men's and Women's championships are worth up to 123 million. The total value of prizes for the distance of 42km is 456 million VND, while for the distance of 21km is 363 million VND.

Including the first, second and third prizes of each age group, including under 30, 31 to 39 years old and over 40 for the distances of 42km and 21km; the first, second and third prizes for the distances of 10km and 5km. In addition to cash, runners also receive valuable prizes in kind from Nike, Garmin, Tissot and BKAV brands.

Health safety and security are also factors paid attention by the organizer right from the first days of planning. According to Mr. Pham Trong Nghiep - Head of the Organizer, this year, in addition to reforming the flow of vehicles, the race would also arrange a professional pacer team for the distances, along the roads, providing water, electrolytes, fruits, cold suckers and flushing water. The organizer also invited the medical team, including doctors with expertise in sports injuries. In addition, the organizer members are trained on first aid to serve the athletes.

To complete the program, in addition to the organization team of the electronic newspaper, VnExpress Marathon Quy Nhon also receives the cooperation of the authorities and the accompanion units. This year, the event continues to receive support from the People's Committee and Department of Culture, Sports & Tourism of Binh Dinh Province.
